Administrative Services

We aim to provide all our clients with the best possible customer service. Unsure of the best method of transit? Seek us, our advice is free.

• Import / Export Customs Clearance. All parcels being shipped from the UK to destinations outside of the European Union and all imports from non EU countries are subject to Customs Clearance. This also applies to overseas territories linked to EU Member states (e.g. Channel Islands, Canary Islands, Falkland Islands etc.) Compfix International can provide clearance services at all major Airports and Sea ports.

Customs duty / VAT. Customs duty may be calculated firstly by adding the value of the goods in GBP to the total shipping costs (including packaging, insurance etc). HMRC assigns a percentage of duty to all items imported with established commodity codes. (Ask us for details) and duty applicable to your consignment. Ask us to estimate all the total value of your goods and shipping costs. VAT is calculated by totalling the goods value, shipping costs and customs duty and then multiplying the total by the current UK VAT rate of 20%.

Packing advice – All parcels must either be boxed or wrapped appropriately (jiffy bags should be acceptable for smaller consignments) and the delivery address clearly and legibly attached to each package. We can only accept items that are suitably packed. Your consignment should be cushioned if necessary and protected with outer packaging.
If the item is packaged inadequately they may refused collection and if the contents are not protected, any claim could be invalidated in the unlikely event of damage occurring in transit.

Invoices for foreign consignments – All Exports to non EU countries will require an invoice detailing the contents and value of your consignment, complete with at least five additional copies to be handed to the driver upon collection. Ask for details.

Bills of Lading – Required for all sea freight items, this document entitles a named party to receive the goods at the destination port. Once the vessel has left the port, we prepare any Bills of Lading and send a copy to the customer to forward on to the receiver. Please note that for any non-commercial sea freight, a copy of the recipient’s passport will be required before the vessel departs.

Restricted / Prohibited items via courier – Live Animals / Animal skins / Fur / Ivory Products / Hazardous Materials / Dangerous Goods / Fireworks / Flammable Liquids / Adhesive / Paints / Imitation Weapons / Firearms / Knives / Swords / Any Flora including but not limited to Plants and Seeds / Currency / Payment Cards / Negotiable Items / Pornography / Pressurised Containers including Aerosols, Fire Extinguishers etc / White Goods including but not limited to Refrigerators, Freezers, Ovens / Any non flat-packed furniture / Batteries or any items containing Batteries / Pasports / Birth Certificates / Toner or Ink Cartridges for Printers, Photocopiers etc / Any Goods deemed to have inherent vice, or by the use of which may cause harm to any persons, merchandise or equipment / Any Goods whereby transit is deemed illegal in the country of origin, carriage or destination, may incur excise duty, or require special treatment, precautions or permits / Any Goods moving under ATA Carnet (including temporary imports and exports), FCR (Forwarder’s Certificate of Receipt), and CAD (Cash Against Document).
